"Dear Gardner Construction,

I am writing to tell you how happy we are with all the work you did on our garage, and our basement. We would be please to have you use us as a reference in the future. This letter provides some background about our experience with Gardner.

In September 2008, we wanted to re-do our garage floor which was old and in serious need of repair with a badly cracked floor. We called three companies, but only Gardner responded immediately and gave us a detailed and written bid. We hired you and our new concrete garage floor looks beautiful.

In December 2008, we had Gardner return to renovate our basement. Our house was build in 1901 and nothing had ever been done in the cellar. It was our least favorite space in the house, a dark and cramped place we tried to avoid. The floor had bucked in many places and the space had been divided up with odd wooden wall partitions. The main walls were crumbling and the windows were drafty and falling apart. We still had an enormous old heating oil tank and an ugly concrete laundry tub.

We hired Gardner to completely renovate the basement and the results are truly spectacular. You did the following: cleaned out and hauled away all the debris, dismantled the partition walls, removed all oil tank and the laundry tub, put new mesh on the walls, re-did all the surfaces with new concrete, installed new support pillars, rebuilt the stairs leading to the basement, removed the old floor and re-poured a new concrete floor, installed a new sink, and re-painted the whole basement. You also installed new glass block windows with an opening in the middle for ventilation and re-built the corresponding window wells on the outside of the house.

Our basement is now a beautiful, airy, open, and inviting space. Light streams through our prismatic glass block windows onto the brand new concrete floor. In warm weather, there will be great cross ventilation. There is plenty of space for children to play, for a workroom, for an exercise or hobby area, and for storage. This renovation has given us a large usable new basement and has greatly enhanced the value of our house.

We would also like to add a word of praise for the terrific group of people who worked on our house. The people from Gardner were courteous and cheerful from start to finish. The owners of the company were right there with the crew and there was a wonderful spirt of enthusiasm and teamwork and commitment. We thank you for all your efforts and we are thrilled with the results!"
